Directors

Roopika Risam is Chair of Film and Media Studies and Associate Professor of Digital Humanities and Social Engagement at Dartmouth. Her research focuses on data histories, ethics, and practices at intersections of postcolonial and African diaspora studies, digital humanities, and critical university studies. Risam is the author of New Digital Worlds: Postcolonial Digital Humanities in Theory, Praxis, and Pedagogy, and co-editor of multiple volumes, most recently Anti-Racist Community Engagement (2023) and The Digital Black Atlantic (2021). She is the director of the Digital Ethnic Futures Consortium and founding co-editor of Reviews in Digital Humanities. Risam recently received the 2023 Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion Award from the International Association for Research in Service Learning and Community Engagement. Carol Stabile is Dean of Clark Honors College and Professor in the Department of Women's, Gender, and Sexuality Studies at the University of Oregon. Her research interests include gender, race, and class in media; media history; and feminism and technology. Stabile is the author of multiple books, including The Broadcast 41: Women and the Anti-Communist Blacklist (2018), White Victims, Black Villains: Gender, Race, and Crime News in US Culture, (2006) and Feminism and the Technological Fix (1994). She is also the editor of multiple volumes, including The Ghost Reader: Recovering Women's Contributions to Media Studies (2023), Prime Time Animation: Television Animation and American Culture (2003), and Turning the Century: Essays in Media and Cultural Studies (2000). Stabile was also a founding editor of the groundbreaking publication Ada: A Journal of Gender, New Media, and Technology and founder of the Fembot Collective, an international collective of feminist media activists, artists, producers, and scholars.
